  3. OMG! Just marvelous. What can one say to such displays of beauty. Looks like your in Holland or what i think Holland looks like LOL! Just fields and fields of rainbow colors. It must be amazing to see it all in person. The pinks and purples together is my favorite picture.

  4. NO WORDS, Cat got your Tongue? Don't you wish you could just go and lay down in amongst all those tulips and soak it all up?

    Have a great evening,

  5. FLOWERLADY~ I’m so glad you got it. When I was looking at these pictures I just couldn’t see myself saying anything that would be an addition to this wonder. It really just stop your heart when you see it and I wanted to get out of the way and hope you all could see it with me.

DARLA~ It’s so nice to hear I could help in the demise of your keyboard. Hehe. These fields of solid vibrant color always make me drool too.

HOCKING HILLS~ I have been going to see these fields for years now and it never fails to take my breath away. There is just something so beautiful about this sight that you are sure the world must have burst open to reveal Heaven. The purple is my favorite. I have yet to be able to truly capture the lavender shade I saw the first year they had them. I debate myself over whether it’s them, my camera or my memory. I’m can’t complain either way though. Not when it all looks like that.

PATCHWORK~ It is gorgeous isn’t it? I’ve never seen anything like it before in my life and it always makes me think of Dorothy in the poppy fields. Now can you imagine how cute your deer would look hiding in those fields like they were in the grass meadow of your last post? Of course we’d have to do something about them eating the flowers, but hey, this is just a fantasy right?

  6. Lesan,
Are they growing the tulips for bulbs or cut flowers? Wonderful visits you get to have!

  7. I hope we can make it up there this year. Your pictures are so pretty. I had heard it was packed with people, but it looks like you had the fields to yourselves.

  8. RANDY EMMITT~ Hi Randy! The answer is actually yes, they grow them for both. They sell the cut flowers in roadside stands and in the growers display gardens. The bulbs can be ordered by catalog and are shipped to you in the fall usually. The display gardens are so amazing with all the varieties on hand to view. You can have great fun walking through the gardens with your bulb catalog in hand checking off the ones you must have. It's a quick way to go completely broke. LOL

CATHERINE~ Oh, I do hope you can make it up to see them. It's such a wonderful experience in person. Plus you get to see the flocks of snow geese and bald eagles. When the geese take off in mass it's simply incredible. The crowds are bad--very bad, on the weekend but during the week you have the whole valley to yourself and the farmers. It's the best way to see the valley. You could swing over to La Conner right next door for lunch or stop at the market for a giant icecream. It's that big market just before you cross the bridge into the valley proper and they make their waffle cones on sight. The smell is to die for!

  11. *it's a good way to go completely broke* Yeah, I would be too! I would love the experience of just going to the roadside vendors and looking at all the "eye candy".

    What a beautiful place!

  13. JWLW~ LOL No words. You know when I was loading these photos I realized that anything I said would really just be getting in the way of the experience. I was hoping that you guys would enjoy them in your own private way, the way I do when I see them. It is such a breathtaking sight to see so much unreal beauty laid out like heavenly carpets. I just thought, what could I possibly add to that?

TATYANA~ I’m sorry you didn’t make it up there this year. Have you been before? I think that since we first discovered them we have only missed two years out of seventeen. It’s become a ritual, I guess much as going to see the Eagles and the Christmas ships. There is just something so wonderful to have these amazing events to mark the passing of our times.

AUTUMN BELLE~ Yes Autumn, those fields are incredibly real. That is exactly what ran through my mind the first time I saw them. The thing is, that after seventeen years, I still wonder how it could possibly be real.

COZY LITTLE HOUSE~ Brenda I wish you could see this in person also. I’m sure it would bring you to tears, it is so impossibly beautiful. I think that is the thing that always slays me about it. The utter impossibility of it all. It gives me hope for all things beautiful and impossible.

JEWEL~ It’s these images that make me plant 1,000 bulbs every year. I just have to have to try to recreate some of that beauty. I can imagine you and your kids in the fields having a great time. Of course I think it would be hard to tell you apart from the kids. Your delightful and youthful spirit would be taking over. I imagine you playing your guitar out in the fields. Now that would be an experience.

TERRY LYNN~ The color is amazing isn’t it? You can see how this is right up my alley. I didn’t think anything like this was even possible. It looks like God spilled out rolls of velvet in the valley.

  15. Swaths of color...bring such joy! I could bask in that all day. How do you have such discipline to not pick them all?
